All about work experience.
Here's an overview of what I've been up to (professionally) in recent years.
I started Huco Designs when I noticed a gap between the non-profits/charities I worked with and the digital spaces they were trying to break into. Time and again, I met small businesses and community organizations who worked with contractors who overpromise, overcharge, and underdeliver.
From visual identities to web design, we make it simple for small businesses to establish their digital presence without the premium price tag.
I have a solid track record of writing successful grants and leading major projects for a national non-profit. I collaborated with 70+ community organizations, kept multi-year projects and budgets on track, and kept information within the communities we served.
Past projects include: laying the groundwork for a centralized policy database for VAW shelters, leading the largest provincial data collection effort on rural homelessness, and co-created an immersive exhibit on cannabis education for youth with youth.
I've collaborated closely with clients, and EH's internal teams (PM, creative, and dev) to understand key issues, create innovative solutions, build prototypes, and consistently deliver high-impact designs that make the users' journey a little bit easier.
Leveraging experience to enhance user experiences across enterprise-level applications. Supporting legacy projects like ATCO ForSite and ATCO MyAccount to ensure streamlined interactions and improved usability. Main design tools used are: Figma, Webflow, and Flutter.
All about education.
Here is a list of things I know a few things about.
Disabilities can range from loss of vision or hearing, to temporary loss of mobility, like spraining an arm through an accident. This certificate helped me gain an understanding of the various areas to take into account (is it visible, operable, understandable, etc), and how affected groups navigate the web based on their needs.
I majored in Political Science and minored in Psychology. During my degree, I learned about government structures and how social policy informs and bleeds into all aspects of public life. Specifically, I explored the politics of the home, the unsung value of emotional labour, and the commodification of Filipino migrant workers in modern history.
Dove headfirst into a rigorous UX Design certificate. I worked though design-thinking principles and practices, learned to define audiences and prioritize their needs and calls-to-action, learned how to design screens that make sense for its intended audiences, and learned about usability testing and research methods.
